Lastly, Tavares itself is "not into masking" from what we observed. I mention the coffee is good, because we were NOT a fan of the coffee provided in the room with the coffee pot. Honestly I don't understand why the hotel would waste money for such a poor lay out. It's a "buffet." The coffee was fine, but the rest of it was terrible. You receive a voucher for breakfast at Shiners, which is located in building 2. The views from the roof are nice, the dog poop is not. We found broken tiles in the pool and the roof of the building we stayed in was accessible and had old dog poop all over it. The property itself could use a bit more attention. There is a pool, it's nice that it overlooks the lake. The place was a bit classier than the 4 places right were the resort is. The only place I might consider in Tavares, was an Irish place 2 blocks from the Key West Resort. All four were filled with loud "locals" and just not our scene. There are four casual bar/restaurants right there where the resort is, I don't recommend any of them. You may purchase a drink from the bars downtown and take it with you to your room. We really loved the balcony and enjoyed the sunset with a cocktail on it. We were fortunate in that literally there was almost NOBODY else staying, so it is hard to say how the property would be during a busy time. The bed was fine, not bad, but we're spoiled by our bed at home. The room had a fresh coat of paint, but the furniture and fixtures were obviously not new. There is a good sized flat screen tv anchored to the wall with an arm that allows it to pivot, so it can be viewed from anywhere in the room. The bed, then two soft chairs before you get to the balcony outside. We had a small table with two chairs in front of a three window space which gave views of the lake and the town. The room was ENORMOUS.you walk in and first there is a LARGE closet that one could put a bed into, then a large bathroom with a normal tub, then a small kitchenette equipped with a small fridge, microwave, coffee pot on a countertop with a sink and cabinet space (no dishes/silverware). We did the corner king and it included a balcony. We were in building 3 building one probably has the most "unobstructed views." I feel most rooms will give you views of the lake, it is difficult NOT to see the lake. For couples I recommend the corner rooms with kings and a top floor. Dora in Tavares, FL, which is a short drive from Mt. This place consists of three buildings on Lake Mt. Congratulations to Alex and his staff for all the improvements.they are very much appreciated. They are in the process of constructing a 3rd building and a pool. We plan to stay in this hotel again on our trip to Tavares next year. Alex was at the desk every morning at 7 am to provide directions, dining recommendations, anything that we needed. The food was prepared fresh and was very good. They also provide vouchers for all guests to get a free breakfast at Al's across the street. night and found Anna cheerfully greeting us and made sure that our room met our expectations. The housekeeping manager provided fresh towels daily and extras upon request. Everything I requested for in my comfort was attended to right away. I especially appreciate the washer and dryer (which is free, by the way). The rooms are spacious, clean and accommodating in every respect. The experience was fantastic this year due to the new management. We have stayed a week at this hotel for the past 3 years while attending a steam boat meet.
